Restaurant La Fogata

Last night I went out to the place that's known as "that chicken, pizza place". The place actually has a name. Restaurante La Fogata features, not only chicken and pizza, but they also serve pork ribs that are notable. They come served with onion rings, which is a bit of a novelty around these parts.

I shared a large vegetarian pizza with a friend, and we left 2 pieces on the plate. The other guy got the ribs. There is no alcohol served, so our bill included a couple of juices and For three of us we ended up spending and one Kaiser, non-alcoholic beer. We each paid around 3,500 colones, which at the moment is around $8.00 apiece. The restaurant is open air, and the chicken is cooked "a la leña", wood fired. Although, we had gotten there after the first batch of roasted chicken had been all bought up, so that wasn't an option for us. The next batch wasn't to be ready for another hour and a half.

It was an enjoyable evening as the crowd ebbed and flowed in typical Tico fashion, although the mix of patrons was extreme: North American, South American, Tico, and European. Almost everyone that entered aknowledge everybody else, the language of choice was Spanish, but there was some English and German heard as well.

I was not able to get photos, but I will.

To get there, from the Dominical side, traveling south, cross the big highway bridge and take the immediate right. Go down there a couple hundred meters and you'll see it all lit up on the left.
