palmar sur car rental

solid car rental has always done a great job for us. they are prompt, fair, and never fail to show up. no surcharge. they meet you when you land and meet you before you fly back. i highly recommend them.

I use Orbit's car rental

I use Orbit's car rental service on Dominical.biz (http://www.dominical.biz/tourism/car-rental.htm). They only rent cars two year old and younger. It's good to hear a good report about Solid though.

By the way Jay, I know your house. Congrats on your acquisition there. I think that is a beaut. Please feel free to put up a page here on Uvita.biz and promote it.

All the best,

Ben

Here are the websites for

Here are the websites for the airlines that serve Quepos, 1 1/2 hours to the north of Uvita and Palmar Sur, 45 minutes to the south of Uvita:
www.flysansa.com/
www.natureair.com/

Quepos has 2 flights a day and so is easier to find a flight, BUT, you have to drive down the bumpy road to get to Dominical and Uvita. Palmar Sur has just one flight a day, so it's not quite so convenient, but that drive is a way lot nicer than the one from Quepos.

palmer sur

Ben, We've always wanted to fly to Palmer Sur rather than Quepos but couldn't find a car rental place there. Has that changed?

Car Rentals in Palmar Sur?

Honestly I don't know about this. I have set up some car rentals for Palmar Sur, but there is always a sur-charge on having the car there waiting. I suspect that this is going to be changing soon. I have an appointment in the coming week with National Car Rental. They are opening an office right near my Uvita office, and they want to talk shop. I would think that they could provide a car to Palmar Sur reasonably. I'll keep you posted on how this goes.

travel to Dominical

Thanks Ben, We'd appreciate that and accept the offer. We're coming down again in late August and would rather fly in to Palmer Sur even though we have freinds we've made in Quepos..

travel to Dominical

You're going to have to fly into Quepos via either Sansa or Natureair and drive to Dominical. I haven't driven the bumpy road yet this year but you should be able to make it in an hour and a half.

The Bumpy Road

I just drove from Dominical to Jaco, and then back to Dominical in one day just last week. If the reader doesn't know it, this involves passing over the 25 miles of "bumpy" road between Dominical and Quepos. I'd do it again... if I had to, but I wouldn't want to. [img_assist|nid=107|title=Bumpy Road Bridge 1|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=|height=0]The road is the best I've ever seen it. There were areas that I actually put the car into 4th gear, an amazing and unprecedented achievement. It is wide and shows signs of recent work, not to mention the fact that you can see the work going on all around. There is heavy machinery and new bridges going in all around. (If you click the thumbnail image there to the left it'll take you to a full size image that shows one of the existing old railroad tie bridges with a new bridge going in alongside of it. After viewing the full sized image I think that you have to click the "back" button on the browser to get back to here). The bridges have likely been the main hold up, but there they are. So, I'd say it has begun. But as regards the drive, a zen-like approach to the drive is good. I would prefer to do it in a rental car as well.
