Living in Uvita
Uvita is all about life in one form or another. In the realm of nature there is a wild array, "a riot" of life as several have put it. Whales, dolphins, snakes, cats, monkeys, birds etc... There is also human life here, and it is getting more so all the time. The obvious kind is tourist, those that visit to soak up and delight in the air here.
This section is not for any of the above. Those have their own sections over to the left there in the menu. This page is for those who live here, or are considering making Uvita Costa Rica their home.
Life here is not really what one would call "convenient" Although, there is a pretty decent grocery, as well as hardware store. There is even an Internet café. And if you want a bite to eat, there are a growing number of options. But by comparison to where a person might be coming from, this is no center for commerce and shopping.
There is, however, something very present here that is lacking in other locations on this globe: quiet. Not quiet in the sense of no sound, but quiet in the sense of no media. Well, we can't really say "no" media since the local hardware store has a sign up alongside the highway, as do the eco-lodges and sodas. But - by comparison to other areas of the planet, it really is quite quiet. You can sort of choose your level of noise. This seems to be the big draw.
As of this writing, we are just getting started with Uvita.biz, and so our content is light. We adding new content on a nearly daily basis, hopefully with the help of the community, to present what it takes to move, and live here.
As the humans move in, there is the inevitable development that comes along with it. We here of Uvita.biz, and the various other sites that we have that discuss life here in Costa Rica's southern zone, are hoping to play a part in this development, with a view toward keeping it quiet and full of life of all kinds.

Why Uvita?
Uvita is one of the most magical places on earth. It is one of those places where, despite having very little infrastructure (convenience), one feels at home. This occurs for a variety of reasons I think. One is that the people in the area are still for the most part campesino Ticos--kind and genuine. They are generally more interested in making friends than making money. Another reason is that the area itself lends itself to development that will cater to families moving to the area. While Dominical has the waves to attract the transient surf crowd and its accompanying nightlife, etc., Uvita has the Whale's Tail, and several beaches that are actually good for kids and families. From above, Uvita resembles a sort of ampitheatre, with the Whale's Tail being the stage and the surrounding mountains looking down on it like eager fans. And let us not forget about the commercial possibilities that are available along the flat section of Uvita, from the Costanera running up to the edge of the mountains and on the other side all the way to the beach. Also, the beach itself is home to a protected national marine park (Ballena), which means security and longevity for much of the area's sea life. There are other protected areas throughout Uvita, and with the tremendous amount of primary forest that seems to breathe and vibrate throughout the mountains, the countless rivers, waterfalls, swimming holes and wildlife, it is simply paradise. I mean, who wouldn't want to live here? I suppose those that want to be near the shopping and nightlife that a bigger city offers, but San Isidro is less than an hour away and Dominical is just a hop, skip and jump away. I know there are probably more desirable places to live in the world, but in my 32 years of life on this planet, I haven't found one! Uvita is the real deal, and it will do nothing but grow in the future.
